Can my authority operate Buy With Confidence?

Yes, we welcome and support any Trading Standards Service who wishes to operate the Buy With Confidence scheme.

If you would like to operate the scheme within your authority we are able to supply you with everything you will need, including all the necessary documents, procedures, promotion material, support and guidance. We can also give you access to the Buy With Confidence website, including your own administration pages.

All of this will reduce the costs of setting up your scheme and the time that it takes.

Using the well recognised Buy With Confidence brand gives you the potential for a far greater impact on your local market than trying to establish a new one. You can also take advantage of economies of scale and opportunities for regional marketing initiatives. This will mean that your scheme can have a greater and quicker impact than would be possible operating on your own.

What do I need to do?

Obviously the scheme needs to operate consistently across all authorities, so you will need to sign a licence agreement, committing to this.

While it is essential that the level of vetting is consistent across the scheme, there is considerable scope for you to administer the scheme locally in the way that best suits your authority.

You will also need to pay an administration fee of £100.

Once this is done we will set you up with a user name and logon, giving you access to your administration pages and your authority will then appear on the website.

There is an ongoing fee for use of the website, this is based on the number of businesses who are members of the scheme in your authority.
